As harvest progresses, Viterra has the ability to handle a range of quality characteristics and be flexible with grades and segregations.
The business aims to help growers capture as much value from their grain as possible while meeting buyers’ needs at the same time, and encourages growers to provide feedback at any stage during harvest.
Pre-harvest grower meetings are also currently underway (or nearing completion) across the network, which growers are encouraged to attend.
A small number of growers have started harvest in the Western region. Peas and barley have been the main commodities delivered into Poochera and Cowell over the past week.
Segregations in the Western region have been updated and now include a Malt 2 grade for Scope barley at various locations to help growers access an alternative malt grade if needed.
Moving the 2016/17 crop has also continued with 3.09 million tonnes of grain exported from Viterra’s two Eyre Peninsula ports over the past 12 months – the region’s second largest year on record.
Nearly 2500 tonnes has been delivered into the Central region over the past week, including peas, barley and wheat.
Port Pirie has opened a new Malt 2 segregation for Commander, LaTrobe and Scope barley to give growers the opportunity to access an alternative malt grade if needed this season.
Deliveries into Eastern region sites have yet to commence.
