Viterra offering well paid seasonal jobs to work the grain harvest

Applications to join Viterra’s seasonal workforce are open with the business in search of 1500 workers to help deliver the upcoming harvest for South Australian and western Victorian growers.

Roles are available at 55 of Viterra’s sites across South Australia and western Victoria providing job seekers an excellent opportunity for short term work and good hourly pay.

Viterra Human Resources Manager Alyson Gilbey says Viterra’s seasonal workforce plays a critical role during a busy time of year for the industry.

“The upcoming harvest is looking promising, which is great news for South Australia and because of this we need lots of people to join us to help get growers’ grain into storage,” Alyson says.

“A harvest job is a great work environment and gives you the chance to get outdoors, meet new people, learn new skills and potentially travel and see our regional communities.

“We encourage anyone to apply – people of all ages and backgrounds. Jobs are provided with complete on the job training so no experience is necessary.

“We have a number of different roles and employees work in a supportive team environment. There is also the potential to travel with the harvest and work at different sites.

“Many people return to work through the harvest with us and we receive very positive feedback on the experience.

“Seasonal workers enjoy the fast pace of harvest, meeting people from all walks of life, gaining work experience and earning good money. There’s also the opportunity for some employees to continue in an ongoing role with the business.”

Jobs are hands on and include general grain handling which involves operating equipment and machinery to unload grain from vehicles, bunker operators to direct traffic and unload grain into bunker storage, and weighbridge operators who record the weight of trucks when they arrive and leave, and enter it into a computer system. There are also grain classification roles which perform quality tests on the grain.

Positions are available from approximately October until January 2022. For more information and to apply.
