Viterra’s grain receivals slowed to just over 300 tonnes during June.
Shipping was busy however, with more than 712,000 tonnes exported in June and three terminals having their largest months of the season including Outer Harbor (206,000 tonnes), Port Giles (165,000) and Thevenard (64,000).
This brings Viterra’s total grain exports to 4.3 million tonnes in 2017/18, loaded on behalf of 11 different exporters and headed to 19 destinations.
To help plan for the 2018/19 harvest, Viterra is seeking feedback from growers about commodities, varieties and hectares sown through a quick one-page survey.
Everyone who fills out the survey (with NGR) will be in the draw to win one of three $1000 donations for a community group of your choice. All entries submitted before 20 July 2018 will be in the draw. T&Cs apply.
The feedback will help Viterra ensure site segregations match grower needs, understand changing commodities and varieties, and plan elevation capacity and other services.
Applications have also opened for Viterra’s harvest casual jobs. About 1500 casual workers are needed this year to work at Viterra sites across South Australia and western Victoria.
A range of positions are available for people seeking short-term work between October and January. Training is provided. More information.
