I started as a harvest worker after hanging up my toolbelt as a carpenter 14 years ago. From there I progressed to operator, assistant supervisor and now I’m site supervisor of the Rudall group of sites on the Eyre Peninsula.
My role
My days start with a toolbox talk to discuss safety and our tasks for the day. After that, I spend some time in the office on monthly reporting and other management tasks. Then I spend the rest of the day checking in with my team or grower customers, spending time around site or travelling to one of the other sites I lead.
No day is the same, which I love. I’m able to spend time forward planning and working towards our business’ overall strategy while also helping to solve problems and getting stuck in and helping my team perform tasks safely and efficiently. It’s a great combination of the two.
My favourite thing about working for Viterra
My favourite thing is the outstanding safety culture, including the attitude to mental health as part of workplace safety that Viterra has embraced is important to me.
I also appreciate the opportunity for movement and advancement within the business, and most of all the great people I have met and worked with over the years.
