South Australian landholders affected by the recent devastating bushfires, now have access to relief for revegetation, with Viterra and Trees For Life announcing a new partnership.
Viterra has donated $25,000 to the not-for-profit organisation’s Tree Scheme to enable landholders to purchase seedlings, tree guards and stakes at a heavily discounted rate.
Viterra Chief Operations Officer James Murray says the company is proud to be working with Trees For Life on the longer term bushfire recovery efforts to help with the re-establishment of native vegetation.
“The devastation and impact on local communities is long-lasting and it’s vital we support landholders towards the restoration of bushfire damaged areas,” James says.
“We recognise the recovery process lasts many months and even years which is why we have partnered with Trees For Life for a longer term initiative.”
“The majority of Viterra’s employees and customers live and work in regional South Australia so it’s important we’re helping these communities,” James says.
Landholders who have been directly impacted by the recent bushfires can order up to 500 seedlings and 500 stakes and guards per property by Monday 31 August to receive the half-price offer.
Trees For Life Chief Executive Officer Natasha Davis said the organisation is very pleased to work with Viterra again to support landholders across South Australia bring landscapes back to life after the damaging bushfires.
“Our Tree Scheme makes it simple to order low cost native seedlings suitable for the location of landholders and scale of project they wish to undertake. You can grow your own or one of our volunteer growers can grow the order,” Natasha said.
Since 1981, Trees For Life has planted nearly 40 million seedlings across South Australia.
Viterra first worked with Trees For Life following the 2015 Pinery bushfire when the business in conjunction with South Australian growers donated $50,000 to the organisation to assist landholders during the recovery effort.
