Viterra harvest workers help bring in the season’s grain

Viterra boosted its employee workforce over the 2019/20 grain harvest period with more than 1530 people recruited to help bring in the season’s grain.

Viterra undertakes recruitment each year to significantly increase the size of its workforce during the harvest period, from October through to January, to provide an efficient, flexible and high level of service to Viterra’s grower customers.

Viterra thanks all of its seasonal workers involved in the 2019/20 harvest for their valuable contribution to meeting growers’ needs and providing growers with a smooth service during their busiest time of year.

Anyone interested in a harvest job for 2020/21 can sign-up to receive Viterra’s regular email updates on its harvest recruitment process. Harvest work is available at sites throughout Viterra’s network and does not require any previous experience with full training provided. A range of roles are available including general grain handling, grain classification and bunker or weighbridge operations.

Seasonal roles with Viterra attract a range of people including backpackers, school leavers and semi-retirees. Viterra receives positive feedback from employees about harvest work and around 40 per cent of its harvest workforce this year returned from having worked during a previous harvest.

Around 300 of the workforce this year were international travellers from 36 different countries who were located through regional South Australia to work, bringing tourism to the local communities.

Recruiting in regional areas across the state provides a significant injection into the South Australian economy, particularly generating jobs and supporting local business.
