Promoting South Australian grain and Viterra supply chain

Viterra is promoting South Australian grain and the Viterra supply chain to end use customers from Australia and Asia this week at the Australian Grains Industry Conference (AGIC).

Viterra Chief Operations Officer James Murray will be a guest speaker at the AGIC Asia event which is attended by buyers, end use customers such as flour and feed millers, consumers and regulators from across Asia.

James will speak about the high quality of grain produced by South Australia’s growers which is sought after by a range of different end use customers in various markets around the world. James will also speak about the high level of standards that Viterra maintains in order to meet varying end use customer requirements, as well as its focus on providing a customised and efficient service.

The presentation also provides an update on crop production with a particular focus on wheat and barley, the 2020/21 season outlook and rainfall.

Glencore Agriculture and Viterra are sponsoring the AGIC Asia and AGIC Australia events which are being hosted online this year for attendees.

Viterra hosts international end use customers each year to visit its supply chain and tour its facilities to provide firsthand experience of the standards and processes in place to maintain the highest food safety and quality management standards. Viterra holds a number of certifications which support this including ISO 22000:2018 certification, the highest certification of any grain supply chain in Australia, which the business has held for more than 20 years.

In place of customer visits this year, Glencore Agriculture and Viterra are participating in an initiative of the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre. Both businesses, in conjunction with Grain Producers SA and South Australian growers, are providing footage of Viterra sites and facilities, along with growers’ crops to create videos and supply to end use customers so they can still see the supply chain and how the season is progressing.
