Keep up to date with the South Australian harvest

Viterra published its third harvest report for the season on Tuesday to help keep industry informed about how the South Australian grain harvest is progressing.

The weekly harvest reports are published every Tuesday following Viterra’s first harvest receival, and are distributed to subscribers via email or available on the news section of the Viterra website.

The reports include information on the past week, such as tonnes received, milestones, commentary from Viterra employees and grain growers and key business information. It also includes an update on the total amount of grain received into Viterra sites for the harvest.

Based on the week ending 18 October, more than 10,400 tonnes were received into the network and 14 sites welcomed their first deliveries.

Harvest in the Eyre Peninsula officially kicked off with nine sites in Viterra’s Western region receiving their first loads. The first of which was a delivery of barley into Wudinna on Monday.

Since then the Arno Bay, Kimba, Port Lincoln, Lock, Port Neill, Rudall, Thevenard and Witera sites on the Eyre Peninsula all had their first receivals.

Viterra’s Inner Harbour site also received its first load for the 2020/21 harvest with a delivery of lentils on Tuesday.

The site’s first load was delivered by Blake Siviour on behalf of grower Michael Balestrin from Robert Darling Farm in Mundoora.

Viterra has introduced changes at Inner Harbour and has opened the local grower delivery line for the 2020/21 harvest for all pulses to enable all growers to deliver directly into the site.

The site has increased its elevation capacity by reopening its bunkers to provide an efficient service to its grower customers. The new Northern Connector will also create efficiencies for growers when travelling to the site.

To receive the weekly harvest report, readers can provide their name and email address in the News section of the Viterra website.
