Postharvest deliveries available to the Viterra network

Viterra has postharvest delivery options available for growers, allowing its customers to deliver any grain stored on farm to sites following the harvest season.

From Monday 3 February the company will receive all deliveries, including through port direct, under its postharvest procedure.

Deliveries are available to select sites, and growers are asked to call ahead of delivering to book in. This helps Viterra ensure an efficient delivery by planning operations.

When booking in, growers will be asked for details including contact information and NGR, the commodity and variety of the load, carrier details and any chemicals applied.

For each load, growers are required present a postharvest delivery declaration form at classification, in addition to the company’s standard delivery advice and declaration. The delivery advice and declaration form can be completed through the hardcopy book or on the Viterra app.

Deliveries through Viterra’s port direct service, which enables growers sell their grain to a buyer for delivery direct to port for loading on a vessel, will also follow the postharvest procedure from this date.

Viterra will continue to conduct testing on grain delivered postharvest in line with its food safety and quality management processes. This includes classifying all loads on delivery, conducting falling number testing on wheat and malt barley to ensure the quality has not deteriorated while in storage, and postdelivery chemical residue testing.

The postharvest delivery procedure helps to ensure southern Australian grain from the Viterra network continues to meet the needs of end use customers and maintains local and international market access.

Growers can choose to provide a sample for indicative classification or chemical residue testing prior to delivering. Results can take up to ten business days after the sample is received, so growers are reminded to plan this in advance.
