Viterra’s port direct service allows its grower customers who store grain on farm to sell to a buyer for delivery direct to port, ahead of when they have a vessel booked to load.
Viterra General Manager Operations, Gavin Cavanagh says port direct is a great selling and delivery option for growers who store their grain on farm.
“Our grower customers who use the service have said the process is simple and provides their business with greater flexibility,” Gavin says.
“Growers manage quality in storage and delivery to port at buyer’s call. We encourage growers to contact their buyer to discuss delivery options and pricing.
“Through port direct, growers can maximise the value of their on farm grain, with buyers reflecting a reduction in fees through higher pricing.”
Viterra General Manager Supply Chain, Derek Robjohns says Viterra’s port direct service is an added benefit that comes with the global demand for grain from the Viterra network.
“Our grower customers have more choice when selling their grain with access to 45 buyers including 18 exporters, who can choose to use port direct to assist with meeting their shipping requirements,” Derek says.
“Since October, we’ve loaded over 2.4 million tonnes onto vessels across our six port terminals, connecting local growers’ grain with 21 international destination markets. This demonstrates the global demand for southern Australian grain from the Viterra network.”
As the 2023/24 harvest comes to an end, Viterra will also welcome postharvest deliveries from its grower customers at select sites, where growers can warehouse their grain to sell at a later date.
Viterra receives postharvest and port direct deliveries under its postharvest delivery procedure, which includes calling up to book in before delivering using the numbers listed on the website.
