Viterra’s postharvest meetings have now finished after meeting with employees and strategic site committee chairs (SSCCs) who act as grower representatives in each region across the network.
Viterra General Manager Operations Gavin Cavanagh says the meetings are a great opportunity to discuss a variety of topics including Viterra’s operations and services, while providing an update on business activities.
“The meetings are an incredibly effective way to obtain feedback from employees and growers about the harvest, what went well and where there are opportunities for enhancement,” Gavin says.
“We can hold discussions and understand what changes would work best for them going forwards, as well as take the opportunity to update attendees on what is going on in the business and different markets.”
A main point of discussion at this year’s meetings has been Viterra’s new service offerings.
“Our digital delivery advice was rolled out to all growers after being trialled in the 2020/21 harvest. It was extremely well received, with growers highlighting how it saved them time and was easy to use,” Gavin says.
Another of Viterra’s new service offerings, port direct, was also discussed as providing greater flexibility for growers to deliver on farm grain to port after harvest ahead of the buyer’s vessel loading.
In addition to feedback on new services, the business received site specific feedback from growers and employees who understand the intricacies of each Viterra site.
“We will continue to review this with relevant growers and staff to determine how we can make improvements and ensure our sites remain safe and efficient,” Gavin says.
With preparations for next harvest well underway, the information received through our postharvest meetings plays an important role in planning for this, while enabling us to continue to shape our services to meet the longer term needs of our growers.
