Viterra promotes harvest preparations and new services at field days

Viterra attended the Eyre Peninsula field days this month to promote the company’s harvest preparations and new services to growers in attendance.

The field days is held biannually in Cleve, and this year’s event was the first since 2018 after being cancelled due to COVID-19.

Viterra representatives from across the business attended and took the opportunity to reconnect with local growers face to face.

Viterra General Manager Operations Gavin Cavanagh says events such as this are an important way Viterra connects with its grower customers.

“Attending the field days provides us with the opportunity to discuss Viterra’s ongoing harvest preparations, new and enhanced service offerings, as well as business and market updates. It was great to catch up with growers after a few years of cancelled events,” Gavin says.

With the season looking favorable for growers, particularly on the Eyre Peninsula, harvest preparations were a key topic for discussion.

“Our preparations are well underway and we are confident in our ability to receive a potentially record crop,” Gavin says.

“We have around 3.5 million tonnes storage capacity and 1 million tonnes harvest shipping capacity between October and January on the Eyre Peninsula. Our harvest recruitment is progressing well, and we are prepared to open our sites for longer to receive growers’ grain and move it to domestic and international markets.”

Viterra also used the event as an opportunity to gain feedback on its segregation plan, which was released in the same week.

“Feedback helps us refine segregations at our sites to best meet growers’ needs during harvest,” Gavin says.

Of particular interest was Viterra’s digital delivery advice, which is available for all growers on the Viterra app for the second season.

Growers attended workshops held by Viterra to learn about the service and how it could help their farming business.

“Growers who hadn’t used the service previously attended to learn how it works, while those who used it last year learnt about our latest enhancements to make it even easier to save time and streamline deliveries,” Gavin says.
