Viterra extends a thank you to all of its customers for their support during 2022.
Reflecting on the season to date, Viterra Chief Operations Officer, James Murray says despite the later start, Viterra has been ready and prepared for the big harvest.
“Our preparations for harvest included continuing our annual investment in infrastructure and equipment at sites where it provides the greatest value to our customers,” James says.
“These investments, which included purchasing new drive over hopper stackers and upgrading existing equipment, help to provide faster turnaround times at our sites and a more efficient service to our grower customers.
“In anticipation of the big crop and to support our grower deliveries, we invested in additional storage capacity and increased our harvest recruitment drive to employ 1650 harvest workers.”
The 2022/23 harvest has also seen record breaking demand from buyers for grain in the Viterra network.
“We have 24 buyers who are posting prices and/or have bought grain in the system and a record breaking 19 exporters with a record 7 million tonnes shipping capacity booked.
“Exporters have booked 25 million tonnes shipping capacity over the next five years from our ports, and we expect to see strong demand for the short term capacity we make available each year closer to harvest.”
To provide extra support to its grower customers this harvest, Viterra introduced new grower relationship manager roles to offer personalised assistance across all key business areas, including operational, technical, and marketing matters.
“Our grower relationship managers support growers who work with us whether that be with grain storage, delivering and/or selling to Viterra, transactional solutions and much more,” James says.
Growers can contact their local grower relationship manager if they are looking for assistance in making the most of the Viterra network.
Viterra sites will be open to support growers harvesting over the Christmas and New Year period. Hours will vary from site to site based on grower consultation and harvest activity and will be available on the Viterra website and app closer to the holiday period.
Viterra’s grower services team will also be available to answer any grower enquiries. More information and hours can be found at viterra.com.au or by calling Viterra on 1800 018 205.
Viterra wishes all its employees, growers, carriers, buyer customers and local communities, a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
