Growers are encouraged to complete Viterra’s planting survey before it closes this Sunday 1 August 2021. The questionnaire is an important tool for the business to refine its segregation plan to meet growers’ needs at Viterra sites for the 2021/22 harvest.
Growers who complete the survey (with a National Grower Register number) by Sunday 1 August, are eligible to win one of three $1000 donations to a community group of their choice.
The survey asks growers what commodities, varieties and hectares they’ve sown for the season, which helps Viterra to match segregations and services to grower needs. The feedback also helps Viterra to maintain market access for growers’ grain and to ensure it meets the requirements of end use customers.
Viterra Operations Manager Michael Hill says there has been a good response so far but the more feedback the better.
“We encourage all of our grower customers to fill out the short survey so we can receive as many responses as possible,” Michael says.
“By growers’ telling us what they’ve sown and where they intend to deliver, we can plan ahead. It ultimately helps to make sure we’re prepared for what grower customers are planning on delivering to certain sites to provide them with an efficient service.”
Genetically modified (GM) canola is new to the survey this year, following the change passed by South Australian Parliament to allow GM crops to be cultivated in the state (except for Kangaroo Island).
As part of the planting survey, Viterra is also seeking insights as to whether growers intend to apply imidazolinone (IMI) chemicals to their crops this season. This helps Viterra to manage stocks and continue to meet different customer requirements.
The survey is available on the Viterra website and has also been distributed to grower customers by email, SMS and push notification. It is quick to fill out on a phone, tablet or computer.
Growers who would prefer to provide feedback over the phone, can contact their local operations coordinator, operations supervisor or Viterra on 1800 018 205.
Viterra will share a summary of results with grower customers by email and the Viterra website.
