Week ending Sunday 15 December 2024 report

  9 - 15 December 2024 Total 2024/25 harvest**
Viterra total receivals* 489,011 tonnes 2,951,063 tonnes
Western region receivals 213,828 tonnes 1,413,150 tonnes
Central region receivals 134,041 tonnes 1,080,045 tonnes
Eastern region receivals 141,142 tonnes 457,868 tonnes

Total 2024/25 harvest deliveries to Viterra are approaching 3 million tonnes, with growers delivering over 480,000 tonnes to our sites last week.

Viterra Central region Operations Manager, Jack Tansley says deliveries to the region reached 1 million tonnes during the week.

“Deliveries peaked on Monday and Tuesday, and Port Giles was again the busiest site,” Jack says.

The Central region also kicked off 2024/25 shipping and rail movements while continuing to receive grower deliveries.

“On Tuesday we finished loading the first vessel at our Wallaroo port for the season with 28,000 tonnes of lentils,” Jack says.

“It’s exciting to make a start on early lentil shipments from our network, with more coming up to support the increase in lentil plantings we saw this harvest.

“During the week, we also loaded Viterra’s first train for the season at Snowtown with nearly 3000 tonnes of wheat, headed to our Outer Harbour terminal for shipping.”

Viterra Eastern region Operations Manager, Andrew Cannon says we started loading the first vessel for the season at our Adelaide ports over the weekend, meaning shipping is now underway across all of Viterra’s regions.

“We started loading the vessel with wheat at Inner Harbour on Saturday, and it will make its way to Outer Harbor soon to complete loading this week,” Andrew says.

“Meanwhile, last week the Eastern region had its biggest week of deliveries for the 2024/25 harvest. We saw receivals continue to build throughout the week, and strong tonnages over the weekend.

“Our Dooen, Inner Harbour, Tailem Bend and Wolseley sites received the majority of tonnes.”

Viterra Western region Operations Manager, Nick Pratt says deliveries are starting to slow in the Western region.

“We are seeing harvest on the lower Eyre Peninsula start to wind up. With good harvesting weather last week, we offered longer hours to help growers finish,” Nick says.

“We also loaded the second vessel for the season at Port Lincoln during the week with wheat and lentils.”

Viterra General Manager Operations, Gavin Cavanagh says we will continue to work with growers to determine site opening hours over the coming Christmas and New Year period.

“We encourage growers still harvesting to get in touch with their local site manager, operations manager or grower relationship manager to provide feedback on upcoming opening hours,” Gavin says.

“Hours will be available on the Viterra app and website closer to the holiday period, and our grower services team will also be available to assist growers with any enquiries during this time.”

This will be our last weekly harvest report for 2024. We will share our next report on Tuesday 7 January 2025.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
