Weekly harvest report

Ending Sunday 5 January 2025 report

  16 December 2024 - 5 January 2025 Total 2024/25 harvest**
Viterra total receivals* 288,580 tonnes 3,239,644 tonnes
Western region receivals 94,124 tonnes 1,507,275 tonnes
Central region receivals 56,615 tonnes 1,136,660 tonnes
Eastern region receivals 137,841 tonnes 595,709 tonnes

Growers delivered 288,000 tonnes to our network over the past three weeks, taking total 2024/25 harvest deliveries past three million tonnes.

Wheat made up around three quarters of deliveries, and Eastern region sites received close to half of total tonnes during the period.

Viterra General Manager Operations, Gavin Cavanagh says Viterra worked closely with growers during the holiday period to offer delivery options and support those finishing up their harvest.

“Many growers have now wrapped up for the season, and in areas where growers are still finishing up, we have sites open or available by appointment. We will continue to consult customers still harvesting to meet their needs,” Gavin says.

“Thank you to our grower and carrier customers for their continued support. We have opened our postharvest survey, and welcome feedback on the experience delivering to our sites so we can continue to provide a valued service in future harvests.”

Gavin says as well as receiving grower deliveries, Viterra has continued shipping from five of its port terminals.

“Over the past three weeks we have been shipping from Port Lincoln, Outer Harbor, Inner Harbour, Wallaroo and Port Giles,” Gavin says.

“This includes the first 2024/25 shipment from our Adelaide ports during December, and kicking off the new year with our first vessel for the season loaded at Port Giles.

“Thank you to our employees who worked over the Christmas and New Year period to allow growers to continue delivering and support shipping from our ports.”

Viterra has now loaded over 400,000 tonnes of growers’ grain onto vessels this season.

“We have more shipments booked across all of our port terminals to connect South Australian grain to international markets,” Gavin says.

“As part of our upcoming shipping we are looking forward to loading the first vessel at Thevenard, which is expected to begin later this week, and means 2024/25 shipping will be underway at all Viterra ports."
