Deliveries into Viterra tipped over the one million tonne milestone during the week, with growers delivering 640,000 tonnes into our network, bringing our total to 1.2 million tonnes as of Sunday 27 November.

We also began loading our next two vessels while at the same time receiving increased tonnes as a result of the warmer weather.

Friday was the busiest day for the network which resulted in growers breaking daily records at our Bute, Thevenard, Witera and Wudinna sites.

Viterra Central region Operations Manager, Jack Tansley says growers delivering lentils to our Bute site broke the daily record two days in a row.

“The lentil harvest in the region is in full swing and the site broke its daily receival record on the Thursday and then again receiving more tonnes on the Friday,” Jack says.

“This was a tremendous achievement by growers and carriers and the Viterra employees who assisted them to deliver record breaking numbers two days in a row safely and efficiently.”

Viterra Western region Operations Manager, Nick Pratt says the receivals into the Western region more than doubled compared to the previous week.

“It’s great to see more records broken and busy sites across the region as growers took advantage of the warmer weather,” Nick says.

“We’re extending opening hours and focussing on moving deliveries through as quickly as possible.

“We started loading our second new season grain vessel for the region at Port Lincoln on Sunday, which is the first for the port this season and is exciting for growers who will start to see their grain move to international markets.”

Viterra Eastern region Operations Manager, Andrew Cannon says receivals into the region ramped up as three sites welcomed their first receivals.

“Bordertown, Keith and Wolseley all received their first loads for the season as growers in the south east began harvest,” Andrew says.

The region also hit an exciting milestone last week as the team completed loading the first vessel for the season.

“We loaded our first vessel at our Outer Harbor site over the weekend with Eastern and Central region growers’ grain, kicking off a busy shipping schedule for the port.”

In total, seven Viterra sites welcomed first deliveries last week including Darke Peak and Tooligie in our Western region and Booleroo Centre and Owen in our Central region, as well as the three in the Eastern region.
