Growers delivered 762 tonnes into the Viterra network last week, with total receivals sitting at just over 1000 tonnes. The majority of deliveries were barley, but also included field peas and lentils.

Mudumuckla grower, Gerard Lynch made the first delivery into Viterra’s Western region on Monday, with a load of barley into our Thevenard site.

Viterra Western region Operations Manager, Nick Pratt says with harvest underway, it’s great to begin to put into place all the planning and preparation which occurs throughout the year.

“We are currently welcoming new and returning harvest workers to site ready to receive growers’ grain,” Nick says.

“Other preparations for the harvest include our investment in additional storage capacity to accommodate the record breaking crop on the Eyre Peninsula.”

Viterra has also made improvements to our services such as the introduction of dynamic binning for canola, and enhancements to our digital delivery advice in the Viterra app.

“It’s good to see growers already using the updated digital delivery advice, which makes it even easier to save time this harvest,” Nick says.

E A Dennis, Baroota delivered the first load of new season lentils to our Inner Harbour site on Friday, which was also the first 2022/23 delivery for the site.

Viterra’s new Eastern region Operations Manager, Andrew Cannon says he is excited for more to come in his first harvest with the company.

“After receiving the load of lentils into port, the team and I are looking forward to seeing grain delivered to our upcountry Eastern region sites once the weather permits,” Andrew says.

“As the tonnes come in, our priority is to provide growers with an efficient and valuable service as they navigate the busiest time of the year.”

During the week, Viterra’s Gladstone, Wudinna, Lock and Arno Bay sites also received their first loads for the season.
