The 2016/17 harvest has continued in South Australia, with both Western and Central region sites taking receivals this week.
Viterra received almost 3000 tonnes of grain in the past week. The start of harvest has been slow due to the recent wet and cool weather.
Growers and carriers are reminded to check the Ezigrain website or the Ezigrain app for up-to-date site opening hours and segregation availability.
A small number of growers have commenced harvest in the Western region with peas and barley the predominant commodities delivered into Viterra sites.
Port Lincoln has continued with its strong shipping program from the 2015/16 harvest, exporting over two million tonnes for the year.
Viterra’s Port Pirie site received its first load of new season grain on Tuesday 18 October, signalling the start of harvest in the Central region.
The first load into Port Pirie for 2016/17 was a load of peas. More peas and barley have been received since then.
Viterra has added 37,000 tonnes of extra storage capacity to Crystal Brook to meet growers’ requirements this harvest.
More storage capacity and services for lentils have also been added. A lentil cleaning grade is replacing the Number 2 grade to provide greater flexibility for growers delivering into Viterra sites.
Deliveries into Viterra sites in the Eastern region have yet to commence.
