Week ending Sunday 18 December 2022 report

  12 - 18 December 2022 Total 2022/23 harvest**
Viterra total receivals* 1,275,341 tonnes 5,141,773 tonnes
Western region receivals 556,903 tonnes 2,484,470 tonnes
Central region receivals 479,459 tonnes 1,806,769 tonnes
Eastern region receivals 238,979 tonnes 850,534 tonnes

Another week of over one million tonnes in grower deliveries has taken total receivals into our network past the five million tonne milestone.

Our busiest day for receivals this harvest was Sunday when growers delivered around 230,000 tonnes into our sites, surpassing our previous busiest day on Friday 2 December when we took 226,000 tonnes.

Viterra Central region Operations Manager, Jack Tansley says all sites in the region are now receiving.

“Our Jamestown site welcomed its first delivery for the season last week, meaning all 16 sites in the region are now receiving grain,” Jack says.

“Growers are delivering all commodities into sites in our region, with wheat now the major commodity.

“The weekend was the busiest time for our sites and we extended opening hours to support growers as they made the most of the good weather.”

Viterra Western region Operations Manager, Nick Pratt says growers broke more records at sites in the region in the week.

“Our Rudall site broke its daily receival records two days in a row on Friday and Saturday, and our Witera and Thevenard sites both broke their total season receival records during the week,” Nick says.

“We’re in the peak of harvest now in the region and our teams are doing a great job receiving the grain and moving it to port to meet domestic demand.

“While some sites have already broken records, our Kapinnie site received its first delivery during the week as growers in the local area were able to make a start on their lupin harvest.”

Viterra Eastern region Operations Manager, Andrew Cannon says two more records were broken in the east.

“Our Werrimull site in Victoria broke its total season deliveries record this week and our Tailem Bend site broke its daily receival record on Sunday,” Andrew says.

“It’s great to see growers start to break records in the region as our deliveries increase. Our employees have done a fantastic job facilitating busy receival days across the network.”

Viterra sites will be open to support growers harvesting over the Christmas and New Year period. Hours will vary from site to site based on grower consultation and harvest activity and will be available on the Viterra website and app closer to the holiday period.

Please note we will release our next report on Wednesday 4 January.
