Grower deliveries into Viterra surpassed the eight million tonne milestone last week, with another 470,000 tonnes delivered into our network.
On the Eyre Peninsula, growers reached a significant milestone as they surpassed 3.2 million tonnes of deliveries into our sites for the season, breaking our all-time deliveries record previously set in the 2016/17 harvest.
Viterra Western region Operations Manager, Nick Pratt says Viterra is extremely grateful for the ongoing support of local growers.
“We thank our grower customers for delivering more tonnes into our Western region sites this harvest than ever before,” Nick says.
“Along with breaking the all-time record last week, which is a huge achievement, we have so far had seven sites break their season receival records, including Rudall who passed its 277,730 tonne record set in 2016/17 on Monday 9 January.
An additional five sites have also broken their daily receivals records in the region, with some breaking it more than once during the harvest.
“These records are a credit to our employees whose work moving grain through our network has allowed growers to deliver their grain safely and efficiently,” Nick says
“It’s also a great effort by growers and carriers who have worked hard to harvest and deliver the big crop on the Eyre Peninsula.”
Growers also continued to break records in our Central and Eastern regions including at our Port Giles, Saddleworth and Tailem Bend sites, breaking records set in the 2016/17 season, and at Snowtown breaking the 2013/14 season record.
Viterra Central region Operations Manager, Jack Tansley says another 259,000 tonnes were delivered to the region last week by local growers.
“We are continuing to outturn grain to provide extra space for growers still delivering, particularly at our Roseworthy and Gladstone sites,” Jack says.
Viterra Eastern region Operations Manager, Andrew Cannon says grower deliveries are continuing to flow into the region, yet slowed over the weekend with the hot weather.
“Along with working hard to provide an efficient service to our grower customers, the team have also been busy outturning grain from upcountry sites for shipping at our Adelaide ports where we are seeing strong demand,” Andrew says.
While wheat is by far the largest commodity growers have delivered into our sites, last week we surpassed our faba bean receival record of 215,000 tonnes set last harvest.
Viterra General Manager Operations, Gavin Cavanagh says 11 sites have received faba beans this harvest.
“We increased available faba bean storage based on growers’ feedback that they were expecting to deliver increased tonnes after a good growing season,” Gavin says.
