Viterra’s all-time receival record for grain delivered into its South Australian sites has been broken with more than 8.55 million tonnes received up until Sunday 15 January.
This exceeds the previous record of 8.54 million tonnes in 2001/02.
The 2016/17 harvest has been the busiest ever with many records achieved at site, regional and state level.
Both Western and Eastern regions have achieved new season records with 3.2 million and 1.6 million tonnes received respectively. The Central region has also been doing a mammoth job with receivals at 3.8 million tonnes.
In the past week, grain deliveries have slowed across the state with 340,000 tonnes of grain delivered into the system.
Viterra ports across the state exported a combined 165,000 tonnes of grain last week. This is following on from Viterra’s second largest month on record in December, after the company exported more than 860,000 tonnes of grain.
Grain deliveries in the Western region decreased again last week with 19,000 tonnes of grain received into the Viterra system.
The region’s shipping program remains steady with 54,000 tonnes of grain exported out of Viterra’s Port Lincoln terminal in the past week.
Viterra sites in the Central region received more than 200,000 tonnes of grain in the past week.
Last week, two sites in the region broke their season receival records. Port Giles broke its record on 10 January, having now received more than 455,000 tonnes of grain. Roseworthy also broke its record on 15 January, receiving more than 368,000 tonnes of grain.
In the Eastern region, sites received over 117,000 tonnes of grain in the past week.
Viterra’s Parilla site broke its season record on 9 January taking in more than 12,000 tonnes of grain. The following day, Frances also broke its season record taking in over 40,000 tonnes of grain for the season so far.
