6 November - 12 Novemeber 2017 | Total 2017/18 harvest** | |

Viterra total receivals* | 669,627 tonnes | 897,415 tonnes |
Western region receivals | 234,553 tonnes | 352,044 tonnes |
Central region receivals | 332,917 tonnes | 432,263 tonnes |
Eastern region receivals*** | 102,157 tonnes | 113,108 tonnes |
The Viterra network received nearly 670,000 tonnes of grain in the past week - its busiest week of the season by far.
Warmer weather allowed growers across the state to increase deliveries into the system, with last week’s receivals making up 75% of the season’s total.
Further to the extensive capital works program Viterra has undertaken this year, an additional weighbridge opened at Two Wells last week to improve turnaround times for lentil growers and export customers this harvest.
The $100,000 investment means there are now two weighbridges at the site, improving efficiencies at the busiest time of year. Two Wells is a specialist container packing site which takes grower receivals of lentils while also packing commodities for multiple exporters.
The new weighbridge will make truck movements for all parties much smoother and speed up turnaround times. South Australia is the largest lentil producer in the country and Viterra is focused on meeting the requirements of both growers and export customers.
Most areas across the Western region have now started harvest.
The pea harvest is the most progressed across the region, followed by cereals and canola. Faba beans and lentils are only just getting started.
The majority of sites are now open in the Central region with many having extended opening hours to meet the increase in demand.
Lentils continue to come into Two Wells, with the site’s new weighbridge helping it achieve a new daily receival record of 2,538 tonnes on Thursday 9 November.
Fifteen sites in the Eastern region have received grain over the past week, with all commodities now coming in.
Pinnaroo has opened some additional barley segregations to meet grower needs, with a Spartacus segregation and Malt 2 for Commander now available.
