4 November – 10 November 2019 | Total 2019/20 harvest** | |
---|---|---|
Viterra total receivals* | 296,773 tonnes | 721,721 tonnes |
Western region receivals | 185,182 tonnes | 414,615 tonnes |
Central region receivals | 106,385 tonnes | 296,674 tonnes |
Eastern region receivals*** | 5,206 tonnes | 10,432 tonnes |
Showers in the past week caused harvest receivals to slow slightly, with our network taking in just under 300,000 tonnes, marginally behind the previous week’s receivals.
Viterra Western region Operations Manager Nick Pratt says that 180,000 tonnes were delivered last week into 25 sites in the Western region.
“Sites in the upper Eyre Peninsula continue to receive the largest volume while our sites in the south are just getting started with some deliveries of canola and barley,” Nick says.
While receivals in both the Western and Eastern regions were up last week, the Central region’s receivals were down nearly 40,000 tonnes on the previous week due to the cooler weather.
Viterra Central region Operations Manager Jack Tansley says despite this, Wednesday was the region’s third biggest receival day so far this harvest.
“Growers were eager to start deliveries as soon as the warmer weather broke mid-week, and the majority of the activity was at our northern sites. Our Snowtown site was our busiest overall,” Jack says.
While barley deliveries are still the majority, we have seen an increase of wheat and other commodities enter our system over the past week.
Viterra Eastern region Operations Manager Jo Klitscher says the Eastern region’s harvest is yet to fully commence.
“Eight of our sites are now receiving grain in the region, with our Parilla site welcoming its first delivery of lentils on Wednesday 6 November,” Jo says.
“We are well prepared and raring to start in the region and fingers crossed the weather improves for growers to really start their harvest.”
