Receivals are expected to increase even more this week with hot and dry conditions forecast.
Viterra is urging growers and carriers to ensure their vehicles and equipment are clean and contaminant free. All vehicles and tarpaulins that are not clean or free of contaminants will be declined.
If contaminants are found while unloading, growers may be liable for the contamination of stock in storage, stock replacement, cleaning and other associated costs.
If outsourcing to a carrier, growers are still responsible for any contaminated stock. Growers should check their carrier’s prior loads and ensure correct procedures for cleaning vehicles are followed. These are outlined in the Road Vehicle Hygiene Prior Load Matrix available at viterra.com.au.
Ensuring grain is contaminant free is crucial for access to domestic and export markets, which have a low to nil tolerance for contaminants in grain.
Twenty sites have been receiving grain across the Western region, with wheat, barley and peas the main commodities and lupins and lentils now getting started.
Port Lincoln is currently taking canola and wheat (APW1, ASW1 and AGP1) from outside the local delivery zone in preparation for shipping.
Twenty sites have started receiving grain in the Central region, with barley and wheat making up the majority of receivals.
Lentils continue to come into Two Wells, with a bunker now opening.
The Eastern region has had eight sites take grain over the past week, with barley the main commodity delivered.
