Last week, Viterra received more than 200,000 tonnes of grain bringing total receivals for the 2018/19 harvest to 258,000 tonnes.
Deliveries picked up during the week as the weather warmed up, yet slowed slightly over the weekend.
We have received grain into 44 sites so far this harvest. The majority of deliveries have been barley and we have also received wheat, canola, lentils, field peas and faba beans.
The Western region’s harvest increased this week with receivals of over 41,000 tonnes. Elliston, Buckleboo, Port Lincoln, Warramboo and Wirrulla all opened for their first receivals during the week.
The main receivals for this region is still barley with some wheat and peas being delivered.
The Central region received the most grain with nearly 160,000 tonnes delivered. The main volume is through the early receival areas around Port Pirie to Bowmans, and across the top of the Yorke Peninsula. Harvest in the Gladstone area started towards the end of the week.
Barley remains the majority of deliveries through most sites, with wheat increasing. Deliveries of canola and pulses remain low at this early stage.
The Eastern region’s receivals started to increase as Apamurra, Loxton, Monarto South, Murray Bridge and Inner Harbour all received their first loads.
Barley, wheat and peas made up the 2,500 tonnes delivered.
