Weekly harvest report

Week ending Sunday 4 December 2022 report

  28 November - 4 December 2022 Total 2022/23 harvest**
Viterra total receivals* 1,351,931 tonnes 2,558,908 tonnes
Western region receivals 645,915 tonnes 1,426,502 tonnes
Central region receivals 491,896 tonnes 808,358 tonnes
Eastern region receivals 214,120 tonnes 324,048 tonnes

Grower deliveries into the Viterra network ramped up last week as they delivered over 1.3 million tonnes into our sites, making the most of the warmer weather. This takes our total receivals to over 2.5 million tonnes for the season.

We extended opening hours to support growers as they delivered more grain last week than the previous seven weeks combined since our first delivery in October (1.2 million tonnes).

Friday was again the busiest day, as we received 226,000 tonnes into our network.

We commenced or finished loading six vessels during the week and into the weekend, as we export local growers’ grain to international markets. This included our first vessels for the season at our Port Lincoln, Wallaroo and Inner Harbour port terminals.

The first vessel from Inner Harbour was also Viterra’s first shipment of new season canola, as we see strong demand for all commodities from the Viterra network.

Viterra Western region Operations Manager, Nick Pratt says harvest is well underway on the Eyre Peninsula.

“Our sites were all busy due to the good weather and our Thevenard, Wudinna and Lock sites broke their daily receival records last week,” Nick says.

“Our employees did another fantastic job managing a very busy week safely and efficiently.”

Viterra Central region Operations Manager, Jack Tansley says deliveries into the region are starting to build, but are not yet at their peak.

“We are seeing increased deliveries into our Yorke Peninsula sites and Snowtown, Bowmans, Booleroo Centre, Gladstone and Crystal Brook as more growers, particularly those in the upper north start harvesting,” Jack says.

“We’re continuously outturning grain from our sites to port and for domestic markets, with particularly solid rail out of Bowmans and Snowtown. This is helping move grain to market and also make room at sites for more receivals.”

Viterra Eastern region Operations Manager, Andrew Cannon says deliveries of more commodities are increasing into the Eastern region sites.

“Though barley continues to be the main commodity growers have been delivering, we are now seeing good volumes of canola across the region and increasing wheat deliveries particularly in the Mallee," Andrew says.
