Last week was the third biggest week of grower receivals into the Viterra network on record. The pace of harvest increased significantly with more than 1.4 million tonnes of grain delivered.
On Monday and Tuesday (28-29 November), Viterra had its two busiest days of the season so far with more than 500,000 tonnes taken across the state.
The 2016 shipping program is ongoing with more than 144,000 tonnes of grain loaded onto vessels out of Port Lincoln, Thevenard and Outer Harbor in the last week.
Viterra’s Western region had a bumper week receiving more than 614,000 tonnes of grain, breaking a number of records.
The region had its two busiest days on record on Monday and Tuesday, receiving 113,000 and 115,000 tonnes respectively across the sites. These records surpass the previous record set in 2010/11.
A number of sites broke their daily receival records: Wudinna (7,267 tonnes), Witera (3,793 tonnes), Cummins (19,388 tonnes), Rudall (9,631 tonnes) and Lock (7,926 tonnes).
Lock’s total receivals have climbed to over 150,000 tonnes, which is a season record for that site and will continue to increase as the season progresses.
The Central region took in over 560,000 tonnes in the past week with strong barley and lentil receivals.
All sites in the region are now taking receivals, with latter areas including Saddleworth, Eudunda, Orroroo and Melrose starting harvest.
