Growers delivered 176,000 tonnes to Viterra during January, taking our total receivals for the 2023/24 harvest past the 5.5 million tonne mark. Wheat made up approximately two thirds of deliveries across our network.
Sites in our Eastern region received a majority of tonnes, followed by Central region sites, with growers in later areas finishing up their harvests after weather in late December caused delays for some.
We reached a shipping milestone in mid-January, having loaded the two millionth tonne of southern Australian growers’ grain at our ports since October. Our total exports now exceed 2.5 million tonnes, with grain headed to end users in 22 international destinations.
To ship this volume, Viterra’s employees and logistics partners have worked together to move more than 1.5 million tonnes from our upcountry sites to port for loading onto vessels.
With harvest now largely wrapped up across the state, Viterra will start to receive postharvest deliveries at select sites via appointment.
In our Western region, the postharvest delivery procedure commenced on Monday 29 January, and our postharvest procedure will begin at select Central and Eastern region sites during February.
Growers can learn more about our postharvest delivery procedure on the Viterra website, including which sites will receive postharvest deliveries in their region, when the procedure will come into effect, and how to book in their delivery.
After each harvest, Viterra seeks feedback from its customers on their experience delivering to its sites. This month, growers and carriers had the opportunity to provide their feedback in our annual postharvest survey.
The valuable feedback we receive from our grower and carrier customers through our postharvest survey assists with planning for future harvests, allowing us to review what went well and where there are opportunities for improvement. Thank you to those who took the time to provide feedback.
