Viterra saw deliveries into our network increase this month to 28,000 tonnes as growers and buyers continued to utilise our new port direct service. The majority of deliveries were pulses into our Yorke Peninsula port terminals.
General Manager Operations Gavin Cavanagh says it's great to see increasing tonnes enter our system through port direct.
"The service is being utilised for a range of commodities and ports, meaning more of our customers can benefit from it," Gavin says.
"We encourage growers wanting to access port direct for their on farm grain to contact their buyers and discuss delivery options."
Viterra South Australian grain exports surpass 5 million tonnes
More than 5 million tonnes of grain have been exported through Viterra’s Thevenard, Port Lincoln, Wallaroo, Port Giles, Inner Harbour and Outer Harbor ports destined for international markets.
This season we have loaded 1.8 million tonnes at Port Lincoln and Thevenard, 1.13 million tonnes from Wallaroo and Port Giles and 2.08 million tonnes at Inner Harbour and Outer Harbor.
Since our first new season vessel left Outer Harbor in December, locally grown grain has been shipped from our ports to 34 countries including:

This expansive list of destinations reflects the strong demand for South Australian grain when delivered into the Viterra network.
Extensive processes, and the highest food safety and quality certification of any grain supply chain in Australia, gives Viterra end use customers confidence that the grain we deliver will meet their required specifications and importing countries’ food safety requirements.
This confidence, coupled with the high quality grain grown in South Australia, means we have been able to build long lasting relationships over many years, and can also carry this reputation into new markets as demand requires.
This results in access to 40 buyers including 13 exporters for South Australian growers who deliver into the Viterra network, offering more choice when they choose to sell their grain.
We also recognise the hard work our talented employees have put into efficiently moving the grain through our network to ports this season. Their dedication to make things happen and get the job done is another key aspect in maintaining market access for South Australian grain.
Viterra congratulates growers on a successful 2021/22 season and we thank them for their continued support as we connect local grain with global markets.
Viterra seeking grower feedback with planting survey
We have opened our annual planting survey to seek growers' feedback on what they are growing this year.
The survey is a key planning tool used by Viterra to ensure our segregations meet local growers' needs.
The information also helps us maintain market access for grain and ensure it meets the requirements of end use customers.
Growers who complete the survey (with a National Grower Register number) by 17 July 2022, are eligible to win one of three $1000 donations to a community group of their choice.
The survey can be accessed on our website or those who would prefer to provide feedback over the phone can contact their local operations coordinator, operations supervisor or Viterra on 1800 018 205.
