Harvest information

Last month we released our harvest information and updated our website with everything our grower customers need to know before delivering to one of our sites this season.

This included details on our newest service making it easier for growers to do business with us, canola dynamic binning.

Dynamic binning, which has been available for wheat and barley grades for a number of years, will now also provide the opportunity for genetically modified (GM) and non-GM canola loads that fall just outside of the required receival standards the chance to be upgraded.

Viterra’s dynamic binning service is immediate and provides growers with greater flexibility and value, while also continuing to meet customers’ outturn requirements.

Viterra General Manager Operations, Gavin Cavanagh says the service has been well received by grower customers.

“Since it was first introduced in 2018, dynamic binning has provided over $25 million in value for our growers, creating efficiencies and improving turnaround times,” Gavin says.

“A higher grade can be achieved if the classification results fall within the specified tolerance zones and all other quality requirements are met, including variety, contaminants and MRLs.

“The average quality of our rolling stack also needs to be continuing to meet our receival standards which follow GTA standards for an upgrade, this is to ensure we continue to meet end use customers’ quality requirements.”

Upgrades are available at sites with canola segregations for CANO and CAGM loads, wheat segregations for ASW1, APW1, H2 and H1, barley grade BAR1, and Malt1 grades for Planet, Spartacus, and Compass.

Growers can also benefit from a more streamlined digital delivery advice this season, with fewer steps, improved duplication and prefill features, and an enhanced user experience across the Viterra app.

Digital delivery advice allows growers to create delivery declarations digitally instead of using the paper forms for every load, saving time on farm and at site.

“We’ve received some great feedback from our grower customers about how easy it is to create digital delivery advices, with over 55,000 completed so far,” Gavin says.

“The feedback included how much it helps their business and also some improvements we could do to make it even better, which we’re pleased to be able to offer this year.

“With harvest fast approaching, we’re looking forward to once again working with our growers to receive crops, provide efficient turnaround times, and export southern Australian grain to key markets.”
