Monthly receivals report

Monday 5 March to Sunday 1 April 2018 report

  5 March to 1 April 2018 Total 2017/18 harvest**
Viterra total receivals* 10,794 tonnes 5,661,976 tonnes
Western region receivals 726 tonnes 1,554,613 tonnes
Central region receivals 6,886 tonnes 2,761,209 tonnes
Eastern region receivals*** 3,182 tonnes 1,346,154 tonnes

Viterra received just over 10,000 tonnes of grain in the past month, with total receivals for 2017/18 sitting at 5.6 million tonnes.

Exports have been steady out of Viterra’s six ports with more than 2.4 million tonnes shipped so far to 19 different export destinations.

Viterra had its largest shipping day on record on Monday 26 March when more than 100,000 tonnes of grain was loaded onto vessels across Viterra’s port network.

All six of Viterra’s port terminals were loading vessels on the 26th, which has only happened seven times since 2009 when its world class Outer Harbor terminal was opened. The vessels were being loaded with wheat, barley and pulses for four different exporters, heading to five different destinations in Asia and the Middle East.

The record demonstrates the efficiencies of the Viterra supply chain and why exporters come to South Australia to source their grain. Viterra’s ability to load vessels quickly and reliably minimises wait times and freight costs to the export markets and removes risk premiums that buyers would otherwise embed into pricing.

It is the first time Viterra has loaded more than 100,000 tonnes in a day for grain commodities. The previous record was 89,000 tonnes loaded on 5 April 2013.
