During February, 750,000 tonnes of grain has been exported through Viterra’s ports.
The large shipping program has seen Viterra achieve its highest ever exports for the December to February period, with more than 2.4 million tonnes of grain shipped.
This brings total grain exports to more than 2.7 million tonnes for the season.
Port Giles has broken its monthly shipping record by exporting more than 170,000 tonnes in February. Its previous monthly record was 134,000 tonnes in December 2011.
Viterra has been working hard to secure grain exports from South Australia and has a full shipping schedule for the coming months. Options are being explored to add extra shipping capacity to the stem to meet high export demand.
Growers should note that Viterra’s late season delivery procedure came into effect on 1 March. More information on the procedure can be viewed on the Viterra website or by contacting the regional office to discuss late season delivery options.
