Viterra employs around 700 permanent staff with many of those living and working in regional South Australia.

The business is a significant contributor in the local communities in which it operates and its employees play a key role in its business.

Each employee that undertakes operational tasks has access to a personalised training plan which is reviewed annually to ensure they have all the skills necessary to complete their roles safely and to a high standard.

Consistency in training is a priority for Viterra to ensure a high level of service at each of its grower receival sites, and provide all employees across its regional locations with the same opportunities.

These programmes, focused on professional and personal development, include Work, Health and Safety at a Certificate IV level, Developing Future Leaders – Certificate IV, and Strategic Leadership at a Diploma level.

In 2019, more than 20 site based employees completed Viterra’s Driving Effective Teams programme, designed to provide knowledge and practical tools for employees when working in groups.

To support the permanent workforce and help receive the season’s grain more than 1530 additional seasonal workers joined the business for the 2019/20 harvest.
